Commissioner Maren Nelson is NOT a judge you want to face if you are a responsible father. Her rulings are biased in favor of the mother.
I know of a case where the father, who has physical custody of the child, is working and has a stable home was ordered to pay the mother child support. The mother, who has an unstable work history, was recently fired from her job and is no longer working. She has an unstable home life, lies under oath, was awarded child support. The father also pays for the child's travel expenses to see the mother! Guess it pays to have Maren Nelson as your judge, if you are a woman!

This is so wrong! Why is something not being done about this?! JUdge Loughmiller in La Mar County, Paris, Texas, does the same thing! So many woman can lie and get restraining orders against some fathers for absoloutely no reason!

There is no gender monopoly on perjury. The courts have had free rein to wreck havoc in our lives for too long. It is a time for change. One key issue is abolishing judicial immunity in the case of criminal activity. Yes, judges do need immunity for plain old stupidity, or there would be no judges, but come on guys...you want to accept bribes, kick-backs and punish people who speak out against you under the color of law, and then you want immunity in a civil action?
Write a letter to the Governor today. Short and sweet. Let him know corruption in our courts is not acceptable and perjury should meet with prosecution.

Thanks for this posting.
I think the problem is that no one is familiar with the options available to oppose a judge's ruling.
The lawyers that face this judge on a daily basis are not willing to file the charges for fear of retaliation by the judge on future cases.
The system is clearly flawed. We know this already but the options to change the system appear to be limited..

Judge Nelson is a horrible judge. She absolutely loves high profile cases because she is a big firm partner who was mediocre at best and was asked to leave her partnership. Called in a favor and is where she is now.
She needs to be exposed for what she is. Bias, abusive and arrogant.
To all those: You can and do have a voice if you are pro-se. You are right. I know many family law attorneys who will not complain about this judge for fear of retribution. However, if you are a pro-se litigant and she has abused her discretion with, been bias or even done something unethical or illegal - you can complain about her.
To note, I am planning to boycott her at her next speaking engagement - I am gathering individuals stories of this judge's abuses and biases -- PLEASE POST YOUR STORIES. If any of you are interested her next speaking event is:

The more stories that come out about her the better.
We need to consolidate our posts and seek justice by composing these complaints and then sending it to any and all officials that have to take notice.
Now that she has made judge she is held to a very high standard and stands to lose a lot if she does not do her job.

How is that she is speaking on this subject!? I have watched her ridicule and insult litigants. She is condescending
and cruel to pro-se litigants. Maren Nelson was a financial partner at a huge firm; what could she possibly know about a working parent's economic trials when she regularly insults them and punishes them. There are far more qualified people to sit on this bench. What is the Beverly Hills Bar Association thinking??
